RD decisions snailmailed 3/28, online on 3/29 5PM EDT

My brother was waitlisted after getting a “very strong interview” letter, which current students said was essentially a likely letter. What the…?

One admission lady emailed me praising the 5 page expository prose I wrote just for those people since my school didn’t do expository stuff. Blah. They gave me too much false hope.

I didn’t give them any expository prose, at least I don’t think so (I don’t even know what that is, lol). I just gave them an economics paper. I think my getting into Hamilton proves how random this admissions process is, so I wouldn’t be too mad, but rather amused.

Waitlisted. I literally started laughing.

Ya, I just sent in a .txt Government paper I wrote, and wrote in the comments that the teacher made (really sparse “Good job BS”), as the Commonapp wouldn’t take the PDF I made due to size constraints.

^Yeah, that’s another thing, my Commonapp thing wouldn’t take it because the scanned images were too large, so I mailed it to them, on the day after the deadline for the online application. So that’s another reason I’m surprised I got accepted, considering they really look for high enthusiasm for the school amongst the applicants–a quality I think I failed to show properly.

D accepted. Was a very tough day until this. All waitlists and denials other than safetys.

waitlisted!
I have many options though. Congrats to everyone else!

why does it seem like very few people were accepted to this school
lets make this a more positive listing

I’m feeling conflicted
I’m in the admitidly lucky position of having been accepted to colgate hamilton kenyon bucknell northwestern vassar and have no idea what to chose.

blah I’m gonna end up going for northwestern for the prestige even though I’d be happier at Hamilton ( this is bad)

Accepted!
4.17 GPA
33 ACT
Accepted: Colby, Middlebury, Hamilton
Rejected: Nowhere yet…
Waiting (hopefully Monday): Bowdoin, Amherst, Williams

Accepted :)

Accepted! And yeah I found out right at 5:00PM, but I wasn’t on CC. That really, really sucks how they did that with waitlist/rejections. A lot.

I’m not going to take my place on the wailist. Had I been accepted? I honestly would have went. However, the way they screwed with us now and waitlisted most of us…I don’t have time to wait when it locks me out of other options and puts me in a position to get the worst housing priority, etc.

Plus, with how timely Hamilton is about giving bad news?..they probably would have told me some time in July instead of June 20th that I hadn’t made it in. Screw it.

hmmn. I honestly would have “went?”

OK, “I honestly would have attended”.

Hamilton was my #1 school…
-The waitlisting, especially in the fashion it was done (50 minutes late when admitted students found out on time) was EXTREMELY insulting.
-The fact that the majority of schools do housing priority by order of deposit. If you come from the waitlist you are the most likely to be in a forced triple, etc.
-The anxiety of waiting until JUNE (Most schools are late May) to find out whether or not you got in from the waitlist.
-Waiting on financial info from the school until then. Merit money is gone, and you don’t find out the rest of it until (read: if) you get in.

Sorry, but this whole college app process has made me a nervous wreck. I’ll go to my second or third(Dartmouth was above Hamilton but there is no way I am getting in, so Villanova or Union College- both are excellent schools too), pay the deposit now, and relax throughout April. I don’t need the stress to be honest.

Accepted. Sorry to all those on the waitlist. That is really unfair.

Coopjust, if Hamilton is really your top choice, accept a spot on the waitlist!!! It can’t hurt!
Hamilton doesn’t do housing based on the time of deposit. If you’re worried about another school, place a deposit there, and you can always change your mind if Hamilton pulls you off the waitlist.

If Hamilton makes no priority based on order of deposit, I will waitlist. I’m still mad about the way online decisions were released, and I still don’t expect to get in. However, if there is truly no priority, I will easily waitlist for the chance to get in. I already deposited elsewhere so that isn’t an issue, I’d have somewhere to go.

I was in the same situation as you, so I understand how frustrating and nervewracking it is waiting for your decision. But try not to blame Hamilton too much… they weren’t purposely trying to torture you! Too many people were logging on a the same time and they were trying to post the letters online… it was just a technical problem!

Can you tell me if your envelope was small or large?
