Western Kentucky is “audition-after-entry,” not “audition-to-stay-in” (which would be a “cut” program). Here is a list of schools that you audition for after your initial entry into the program - from the bottom of the “Big List MT Colleges by Program Type”:
AUDITION AFTER 1st/2nd YEAR
Cal St Fullerton BFA 2yr CA
Clarion Univ. of Pennsylvania BFA semesters 2/3 PA
Dalhousie BA Hons audition for classes Canada
Hofstra BFA w/MT Minor 2yr NY
Lees-McCrae College BFA 1yr NC
Metropolitan State College of Denver BFA after entry CO
North Dakota State BFA w/MT Track 2yr ND
Northwestern MT certificate 1yr IL
Southern Methodist MT Minor after admission for BFA Acting/Dance/Voice TX
St. Edward’s BFA w/MT Minor 2yr TX
Southern Utah BFA w/MT Emp 1yr UT
Stephens College BFA 1yr MO
U California-Irvine audition for BFA MT after certain coursework complete
U Minnesota-Duluth BFA 1yr MN
U Mississippi BFA 1yr MS
Western Kentucky BFA 2yr KY
To reiterate (in an effort to forestall any confusion), these are not “cut” programs, they are “audition after entry” programs. It is true that you may end up in the undesirable position of attending a program that is not what you may have been looking for if you are not admitted to the BFA or certificate program after you have spent 1-4 semesters at the school. So, some might call these programs a bit of a “crapshoot.” However, some of these programs do offer 2nd and, I think, in a few cases, even 3rd chances to re-audition for entry.
This list is not all-inclusive by the way, there are more audition-after-entry MT certificate programs such as the University of Kentucky plus several/many audition-based MT minors.
