@mathmom – comforting to hear that property prices are holding steady somewhere in the area.
@emilybee – this is embarrassing to admit, but I forget that Trumbull is part of Fairfield county–and I even take my son to a doctor up there. Just looked at the chart connected to that real estate analysis and it appears that Trumbull has seen very strong unit sale volume (40% increase in YTD unit sales) but flat median selling price. Interesting. And sounds like your cousin’s D got a good price.
@CT1417, they are thrilled with new house. Their house sold so quickly and buyer wanted a 30 day close so they were really under the gun to find something. Everything in their price range in their elementary school district was a dump that needed extensive remodeling - then they found out their D could attend the same elementary as she has severe allergies and it’s the only school in the district with AC and air filtration system, so they could look in other areas of town. They were pretty shocked the sellers counter was only $5k over their max budget.
I wonder what kind of an effect GE headquarters leaving Stamford is going to have on the market. I expect it won’t be good for sellers.
GE’s departure won’t help. Perhaps as symbolic as anything as the total # of affected employees is not huge. I have read 400, 600 & 800 and not sure which one is correct, but many are highly compensated. Imagine the impact will be felt in the immediate Fairfield area, although the town has 60,000 residents.
