REAL *Official Decision Page*

Middlebury waitlists kids who have the ability to succeed at Midd, but for whom there isn’t enough space in the class. Some consider it to be a polite rejection, but last year more than 70 kids were taken from the waitlist (but the for the 2 years prior, no one was taken from the waitlist).

Middlebury filled 49% of the class ED, so that leaves around 4,800 students to compete for the remaining 250 or so spots. Add to that the fact that Midd is expecting a housing shortage next year (http://www.middleburycampus.com/news/2005/03/17/News/College.Predicts.Housing.Shortage-895554.shtml), and its clear that they needed to be careful about doling out acceptances to prevent overenrollment.

If Midd is still your first choice after you collect all your acceptances, then make sure you let them know it…

Good luck to all…
