I didn’t interview for Rice, but at the interviews I had I always tried to ask questions about my interviewer’s personal experiences at their school. They love those questions because (1) it lets them reminisce, (2) people love it when others are interested in them, (3) it shows them that you understand that you can only learn so much from a college guidebook, and (4) it gives you some seriously good information and potential talking points later on.

Don’t be nervous at all, I thought I would die before my first couple interviews (I interviewed for Middlebury, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth Brown [phone] in that order) but I came out just fine. Once you start a conversation it’s really easy and fun to keep going.
