<p>Theoretically, no but in reality, perhaps. All the SecNav nomination does is provide command endorsement. I think, by instruction, they are supposed to provide the endorsement partially based on academic potential but it is mostly an evaluation of your officer potential. The Academy portion of the application is used to determine your academic capabilities. With that said, a command endorsement will ensure that Admissions will give you every benefit of the doubt in giving you a chance to prove yourself academically.
