<p>They do not recruit that many athletes. I saw somewhere the total number of varsity athletes at Yale at 805 and this includes walk-ons. Their actual cap is below 200 and probably closer to 180.</p>
<p>GolfFather, the cap imposed by the Ivy League based ion the number of varsity teams that Yale fields is 230. Under Levin’s tenure, Yale recruited fewer than the league allowed.</p>

<p>My understanding is that Levin was anti sports but that Solovey has a much more accepting viewpoint regarding athletics.</p>
<p>That said, you may see the Yale numbers go up compared to recent years during Levin’s tenure.</p>
