Recommendations for best way to learn language, specifically Italian

I love that museum in Bolzano, definitely worth the time. Get tickets online ahead of time. And yes, even south of Ortisei, many German speakers as well as the local dialect, whose name is escaping me now.

Back to your original question, I was wondering what AI programs might say. I asked Perplexity and ChatGPT to give me a plan to get to B1 in Italian in 1 year and listed the programs and book that I have. Both gave plans that seem reasonable although too long to paste here. I might even try one of them!

You could try asking what they would suggest using free or low-cost resources if your library doesn’t have Pimsleur, Michel Thomas, Assimil, etc.

I second the suggestion for the podcast, Coffee Break Italian (they also have other languages). Nice extra to add to your beginning studies, and works on its own if you are only looking to learn a little. I’m shocked at how prevalent English has become in Europe since I started traveling around 2000. On my trips the past three years (not Italy), I had very little opportunity to practice anything I learned.
