Recommendations for degree/diploma framing?

holy Jesus… I hope it was a 24 kt gold frame for $140. I haven’t looked at the prices yet; the form is still sitting on my ‘to do’ pile.

As a Rice grad, those actually need to be framed within a few months of receiving them… Don’t let it sit around for a year, or it’ll become impossible to frame. Perimeter Gallery in the village is quite adept at framing sheepskin-- it’s probably best to find someone who’s dealt with sheepskin before.

See above… Had to get it framed, have a cubicle at work, safest place for something framed is on the wall! Please no judging when you come to my house for high tea and snooty discussions about opera. ;)

Gorgeous wood frame, gold accents, very nice double matting, that had college crest on it, archival safe, etc. Not just a frame from the frame shop (although if you have sent something to be matted and framed recently, it is NOT cheap).

To answer the original question of “how did we frame the diploma”, we did the same as ellemenope. We spent some money and bought a beautiful frame thru the college bookstore and hung it upstairs in the hallway outside the bedrooms. The frame itself is a work of art and like LMNOP, we considered it a bargain compared to taking it to a frame shop.

Their framed diplomas were our graduation present to our 2 who have finished. Seems like a fitting statement… we’re proud of you, here’s what you did, we paid for the degree so don’t expect a new car or a 'round the world trip.
Both schools had ready to use frames from the bookstore. Both were around $100. I didn’t think it was expensive since I has just had my own done to hang in my classroom (seemed like everyone else had theirs… )
Son actually has carted his around the country despite the fact that he could have easily left it here in his old room. I guess that means he likes it.

I’m in academia. For some reason, in our little social world/field, it’s considered somewhat tacky to display credentials (as its a given). I think doing the normative thing in one’s particular social world- either display or no display- is worth taking into account.
