There is a music department, as has been stated by others: http://pr.caltech.edu/catalog/courses/listing/mu.html

The course offerings, not surprisingly, are pretty meager. However, you don’t need a huge number of music classes to keep playing. There is a thriving orchestra, concert band, multiple jazz bands, and dozens of music ensembles. Also a lot of people, such as myself, who just practice on our own. There is also an on-campus house dedicated just to music that has fancy-schmancy sound-proofed practice rooms with acoustic modification and nice pianos.

A lot of the students here are musically talented despite the fact that there are no music majors. More than half of the students I personally know play an instrument. It’s really not hard to find someone to play with, if you want that. Don’t worry.
