Recruited athlete...how long before we hear on appointment?

The Academy can’t force the MOC to give a nomination. However, the Academy can let the MOC know that they are interested and ask that the MOC give serious consideration to giving him a nomination. Typically a MOC will give careful consideration in such situations.

The MOC is not likely to present one nomination before the rest. They can provide a slate of up to 10 people for each opening. The MOC must get that slate turned in to the Academy by January 31st. Many turn them in earlier. I am not aware of a MOC turning nominations in one at a time. They typically submit their slate at the same time so if the MOC is not yet ready to submit the full slate you may have a wait on your hands. However, since you indicated the MOC implied notifications will be made in December then you probably are looking at waiting until then. It is unlikely that the Academy will give an appointment prior to the MOC nominations coming in because to do so would require that they use another nominating source (for instance the supe or VP) and they have a limited number of those so they won’t use them unless they know he didn’t get a nomination from your MOC. It can get pretty complicated and the waiting is difficult but at this point it is, unfortunately, a waiting game. Did he apply for all nomination that he is eligible (at least the rep, both senators and VP plus maybe presidential or ROTC)?
