The old refrigerators used CFCs (bad for the ozone layer) and these were replaced with refrigerants that were less efficient compared to CFCs. Do the new models really use less power than the old models or is the comparison to other models using the same refrigerants?

I just had to look at this thread to see if it was a GE fridge and son of a gun…it is. We had the SAME thing happen 12 1/2 months after we built this house with a GE Profile Side by Side. The condenser had to be replaced. I whined and whined and my recollection is that GE covered part of it…but not all of it. My neighbor had the SAME fridge and it also did the same thing…at 12 1/2 months of age.

I will NEVER buy another GE fridge again.

We have never bought a GE anything, but while we have been using a bar fridge for the last year, it is just a tad too small, and I want one a little bigger.

Come back and tell us what you get.
