Regents' & Chancellor's Scholarship

I’m currently a freshman with regents at Cal.

There seems to be a lot of confusion so I’ll clear some things up.

money: you get 1000 no matter what if you get regents. If you require financial aid, they give you a grant according to this formula, student budget - (yours + parental expected contribution) - 1000(the thousand they give you anyways).

housing: guaranteed housing as long as you are regents. You do not get guaranteed choice. The wording is as follows: they will make an extra effort to accomodate but without guarantees.

scheduling and classes: you get absolutely no priority registration unlike other UC’s.

clubs: there is a regents and chancellors club which is okay.

elgibility: they pick you out of the application pool if they want you. If you get asked for an interview you are absolutely accepted to Cal unless you are just ■■■■■■■■ enough to make them unaccept you at the interview. Also, most people that interview get regents. The 200/1000 is a misguided figure. 1000 are interviewed. 200 who enter Cal as freshman are regents. Does that mean that the other 800 did not get it? No. It means that 1000 were interviewed many regents were offered but many students of this caliber probably dont consider berkeley as their top choice and dont go to Cal even though they are offered a Regents and Chancellors scholarship.

Also, to maintain regents while at cal you must keep a 3.0 GPA minimum per semester.
