I registered for a college info session recently, and now I can’t go. However, there are no links on the website for how to unregister and it’s tomorrow. Will it matter if I just don’t show up? Do colleges keep track of the students who show up/don’t show up vs. who registered?

I guess it depends which info session it is. However, I am sure many people sign up who end up not going. Really I think it is for them to see how many people to expect.

What do you mean it depends on which info session it is?

Like which college it is for. Some colleges value a student’s interest so that college might keep track. If not, then it probably doesn’t matter if you don’t go.

So do you think it could negatively impact me if I don’t go? Or is it one of those situations where there is no negative impact if I don’t go but there might be a positive impact if I do go?

Probably the second thing. Is this a highly selective college/one that you might be a borderline applicant to?

Call them and let them know you can’t go. You can find the admissions tel no. That solves the issue of whether they track and would take offense if you are simply a no-show. If they don’t care, they’ll let you know. If you at all care about this school, why guess?

Thanks lookingforward! I just called them but it’s after office hours so hopefully it won’t be too late…
