Regular Decision - Class of 2024

@Trolleydolly what school did your daughter apply to?

Two words: yield protection… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yield_protection

.

That’s her first choice actually (she’s legacy there) we are just waiting on the decision She got a lot of money from University of Miami too.

Good luck to her! My son applied to USC, Syracuse (Newhouse) and Miami. All are reaches for him though but you never know.

The local counselor she spoke with at school said “Oh you probably won’t have to pay anything to go to Syracuse.” At this point I should stop being shocked by anything anymore. But I am surprised she wasn’t offered one.”

@trolleydolly your daughter is clearly very accomplished. It’s too bad a school counselor would make such a blanket (and inaccurate) statement about having to pay nothing to go to Syracuse…it’s so frustrating when school representatives get the kids’ hopes up! I believe the largest scholarship at Syracuse is the Coronat, and even that doesn’t cover room and board, just tuition (although that’s no small number). From what I’ve seen, they also tend to award merit to kids who have shown a lot of interest and that includes the “optional” interview. There are still other large scholarships besides Leadership that she could receive with her acceptance. Good luck!

Biology- I’m not sure what that is at Syracuse. I assume liberal arts

@Trolleydolly since she’s NMF, if she gets accepted to USC and lists them as her top choice, she’ll get 1/2 tuition scholarship and be eligible to live in the honors dorm.

Starting last year U of Miami also gives 25,000 to out of state (And in state) who name them first! So she left it undecided until we hear from USC. Miami already gave her the presidents scholarship, coupled with their NMF it makes it very affordable. But she did also love Syracuse, so it’s sort of disappointing to get nothing.

Do decisions only come out on Friday?

why, do you think they do?

@yalwerdna which scholarship did you receive?

It was the 1870 Scholarship (the email told me it covers full tuition for 4-5 years)

So early acceptances based on merit right? I applied RD and haven’t heard anything yet, so congrats on everyone who already got in!

is it possible there will be a wave tonight?

Has anyone applied to the College of Engineering and Computer Science for computer science and heard? Anyone heard early about merit scholarships from that school?

My daughter applied RD and received email on 2/21 that she was accepted for Civil Engineering with the Leadership Scholar Award. The email included merit money.

Should we expect to hear this upcoming week?
