Midwest mom,

please don’t post propoganda from A Ohio State School on this site. No one down here likes them.

Of course, I may be a little biased because my grandpa played for the maize and blue…

kiki, r u a minority? that might have helped but I don’t know.

I like the Gophers at the other U of M!

Yes, I am a minority. I am African-American. I was figuring that it probably helped as well. Its a bit unfortunate for the OP though…

wow I’m soooooo worried…
for me,
1st choice-Nutritional Science (CNS)
2nd choice-biochemistry (CHS)

…
i hoppppeee I get innnn

I am tooooooooo worried
for me,
1st Mathematics(CNS)
2nd Computer Science(CNS)
honor Turing Scholar

I am an international student and I have not got the decision yet.
My stats are CR530,Math800. SatII MathII800 Chem800 PHy760
and gpa is much lower than that of johndear…

UT is my first choice too…
I submitted my applications on Jan.31 because my TOEFL score turned out very late
hehe,maybe the latest

My S was accepted. He is OOS and applied at 4:00 on the last day. I believe the deadline was at 5:00. He just found out he made his 1st choice of Biochemistry. So apparently it does not matter when you applied.

^can you tell me some of his stats?

go to michigan, dont settle for UT liberal arts

SAT I : 1420
ACT: 34
SATII Math II 770
SATII Bio (Molecular) 790

Oh and NMF

I believe that last bit is irrelevant to UT admissions. The scores are good but UT also includes your rank in their formula.

Good job OOS people, I’m so glad I’m top ten in-state and don’t have to deal with the pressue and worrying.

And COLA is a very good department, one of the best public school departments in the country. Plus Michigan is cold and the girls aren’t as good looking. I’ll always root for the maize and blue, as my granddad played there, but I BLEED ORANGE!

I got my acceptance letter today into the Plan II Honors program at UTexas. Does anyone want to explain to me why Plan II Honors is apparently less selective than the College of Natural Sciences for out-of-state students!?!

Honestly, if UT Austin is really filled with this much bureaucracy, I’m not too sure if I want to go there…

Hmm…perhaps when you were filling out your application, you put down Plan II as your first-choice major? If that is the case, you would not be considered for CNS unless Liberal Arts didn’t want you. I almost did that, but then read on the Plan II site that you should put your other major first, even if you care less about it.

Just trying to help you figure this out. Call your regional admissions counselor. I know that mine is very friendly and has always been very helpful whenever I had a problem with the application process.

I personally think this top 10% thing is lame. I think there could be a much better way of ensuring spots for in-state students but then again Texas is a public school and has a responsibility to in-staters. And of course I’m a little bias being OOS. Also, does top 10% guarantee acceptance to first choice major?

^No, no guarenteed major.

Also, johndear, after reading the information posted I am pretty sure that you may have made a mistake on your application for that to happen. Are you sure you put CNS as your first choice major?

I figured my situation is similar so I’m not making a new thread, but I was just accepted to UT as a whole, but in Social Work. I don’t want to do social work, I want to do Plan II.

I haven’t recieved an official rejection from Plan II, but does that mean I didn’t get it if they informed me I’m in on social work? Or do I have to wait on Plan II still, and then maybe I’ll get it? If so, how long?

Also, I submitted my stuff late (a day or two before the deadline for P2 I think).

oh yeah – I mean, my first choice was Plan II, my second choice was Social Work. Forgot to say that.
