Rejecting a college that I already accepted?

-------------------;)-----------------

To whom it may concern,
This is [my name] and I am writing this letter to request a retraction of my acceptance. After much thought, I am sorry to say that I would like to retract my acceptance from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I am very grateful for your consideration as well as offer, but I believe my future lies elsewhere.
Sincerely,
[my name]

Is this good enough?

Double check your grammar. Otherwise, I think that should probably suffice.

Did you check their website to see if you can get the confirmation fee back?

I did not submit a confirmation fee.

“The way ED works is once accepted, you are required to withdraw any other applications you submitted. You have to prove that going to UMBC would be financially impossible given the cost and financial aid package you received.”

For the record, you never have to prove anything; you already submitted all required financial data. If the ED financial aid offered is not enough to support attendance, you just say thanks but no thanks:
