Relish Trays for Thanksgiving -- Anyone making one? I'm looking for ideas!

Costco cauliflower is good. I am saving the juice to pickle radishes etc.

Definitely google turkey relish trays, there are some awesome looking ones that would make your tray look impressive!

I agree with the black olive fans, when I was a kid that is the only time we got to eat them. I always open a can at Thanksgiving.

Oh yes…watermelon pickles, spiced apple rings, olives…what a fun idea to bring back.

Since when does one need to update foods? Especially at Thanksgiving. I will cut up, serve whole various raw veggies. Nice for people to pick and choose something along with all of the cooked food. No need to impress- there is so much other food. So far the olives, radishes, carrots, red peppers, maybe grape tomatoes… The point is for easy foods. Gotta have the black olives. Too much prepared food to bother doing even more spicing…

^^^I think most of the foods mentioned ARE easy foods. Come out of a jar or can if pickled and raw veggies or fruit. I think even the spiced apples and pickled watermelon were purchased already made. (at least the version we had!)

@patsmom : those are really cute! Think I’m going to do one…veggies only, though, no olives or anything spiced for us.

Yep, I’m feeling inspired now - one retro relish tray at the Sabaray home.

My grandmother made her own watermelon pickle. D loves those mini gherkins and I love cornichons. This will be fun to put together!

Started to pickle my beets and eggs (PA Dutch thing) on Thursday so they should be ready to go for appetizers on Thanksgiving. I can’t imagine Thanksgiving or Christmas without them. My grandmother who has been gone a long time comes to life every time I make them.

Love the idea of a relish tray - feels like old school entertaining!

Hot pickled okra! MIL used to do pickled dill green beans. Anything vinegary and spicy helps cut the heavy, fatty dishes on the rest of the typical holiday menu.

Talking about the extra spiced veggives and now I miss my Mom’s homemade spice peaches that i had not thought of in a while. They came off her tree in the summer and she spiced and canned them for the holidays.

Don’t forget pickled caponata! One of DH favorite. We do mozzarella balls in italian dressing, black olives, caponata, prosciutto wrapped around cantaloupe, sun dried tomatoes, parmigiano- reggiano cheese, marinated artichoke, soppressata salami and very thin, crusted bread.
