I agree that you could probably look to A for employment much later, perhaps after you have other work experience to offer. I doubt that they would give you another chance as an intern or a new graduate, though. I wouldn’t worry about it any more now…just move on and do a superior job at B.

ab2013, S was lucky in that the two internships were in the same city (though not at home). Made it easier to work that piece of it out. S2 sent the email to us (the 'rents) for feedback before he sent the final version to Job A. He was professional, personal and flexible, and I think it’s safe to say he didn’t burn any bridges.

DH and I were rather proud he had thought through the issues, came up with possible solutions and negotiated a deal that worked for everyone. Believe me, there have been times when we weren’t sure that would ever happen! :)

Well technically I backed out when I agreed.

And I’m still going to take time making a decision for what to eat in the lunch line. By the way, how do people decide that if you have like 6 entrees and 6 sides? You end up with 216 possible choices! (assuming 2 sides per meal)

Well, in my mind A isn’t quite the place to start out … but it seems great to have when I decide to settle down and a family… A’s corporate culture and location really supports this. In fact, they told me I won’t be working after 5. (I’ve never gotten an e-mail from A that was after 5 p.m. … but B … they have sent e-mails after 9 p.m. their time)

I would be so overjoyed to have that.

I elected to peruse my Career Office. I think they read it twice (maybe 3 times) before the green light came.

The problem I have this time is that I came up with a gameplan for how to deal with A (in coordination with the Career Office), and I didn’t exactly follow it.

ab2013, you made more than 50 posts on this thread, perseverating over the tiniest details and demanding reassurance about the most mundane matters. Given that and your comment about menu selections (which I hope was partly in jest), it appears that your style of handling problems and making decisions will not serve you well in the business world or in personal matters. Life will only get more complex and more demanding as you get older. I think you need some tools going forward. Please consider getting some counseling for your anxiety and insecurity. In any event, best of luck in the new job–I hope you have a great summer.

In ab’s defense, the continued postings from the rest of us haven’t encouraged an end to this thread.

The OP could have checked out at any time. It happens all the time.
