D sent her in. I believe she did receive an email from financial aid but I’m not 100% sure.

i wish i knew about CC before s applied to schools in the US. I’m so glad this mom told me about it at the Explore.

Madbean, at our Explore, we had 2 professors there (I didn’t really get to talk to them), but they were very nice too. One was Amanda Pope (I think that’s the name and the other one was a professor who is still working in the industry but teaches on the side. You’re right, I find them very approachable and hope that my s will take courses with them.

s just tried to register for orientation but it didn’t work, maybe it hasn’t been 24 hours yet.

Sequoia, I guess I was next to your table at Explore then.

My D mailed the scholarship acceptance form on April 14th (yes, I have many lists taped on my wall with even dates of what was sent when etc…only way to survive and keep track), but we have not received any kind of acknowledgement it was received.

bmom: I remember some faces from that day and dinner, I tend to look around a lot at people, surroundings etc., so I’m sure I saw you…maybe I will “recognize” you one day in the future.

Also, today we were at a local reception; USC people reminded us that registering for orientation could take time after sending deposits. She said the system needs to sort things and can take up to 7 days.

Is there an earlier reply date for scholarship acceptances?

^ No phorid, May 1 is the deadline for remittance of the deposit and choosing the college for everyone… It’s the same for the scholarship recipients, but there’s a form that needs to be sent by mail, signed by the student, that lets them know you are accepting the scholarship. (applies to Trustee, Pres, and I believe Deans)
I did speak to a USC financial person last night at a reception, she said it was the postmark deadline, not date of receipt.

I think I mentioned in another thread that I sent my d’s scholarship acceptance by certified mail because I wanted to have some proof that they received it. I got the card back from the post office signed by USC so I do indeed have piece of mind that they received it. It’s been about 2 weeks since we sent it and haven’t received any letter or e-mail from the school so I’m glad that I sent it certified mail.

I wish I’d had the presence of mind to send it certified. Just our luck if it got lost in the mail…think I will give them a call today though I’m sure at this time the phones will be very busy.

I also sent it certified but I was too cheap to ask for a receipt.
It got there alright. D has received 2 emails about her financial aid.

btw…my daughter is a spring admit and they accepted our deposit now. we put it on our credit card. might as well get that mileage.

how did you log in?

i called admissions and they faxed me a credit card authorization form. i said that she was a spring admit…there was no comment as to its not due yet…so we faxed it in. i like to have everything done on time or early. as to logging in…the woman that i spoke with said that there were having problems with the site and logging in. she said that i could snail mail it, but again…i wanted it done.

I posted this on another thread, but I just spoke with a nice guy in FinAid who assured me the signed document for the scholarship does not have a cutoff deadline. If the student registers for USC by the May 1 date and you have been awarded a Trustee, Presidential or Deans (didn’t ask about any other) you get it. They would like the paperwork signed by the student acknowledging that student understands the terms and conditions of the scholarship. Not a panic situation I was told. FWIW. I tend to err on the side of panic myself. lol

if I knew that it would be post mark date, I would have paid the extra money to send them by express post (we didn’t get the trustee scholarship so every bit of money count and we already spent a lot of money sending applications and portfolios by expresspost)

So, I sent the reply card a few days ago, and according to DHL, it should have arrived on Friday. However, when I check my admissions checklist online (here: https://afa.usc.edu/AFA/login.jsf</a>), the reply card is not listed as a received document. For those who sent the reply card, could you please check if it shows up on your list? I’m starting to get a bit worried… I’ve already sent them an email, but they haven’t replied yet.

awelex - My S sent the main USC reply card around April 1 and it’s not listed on Oasis yet.

awelex: A document that my D sent last Friday did not show up as being “received” till yesterday. I think it takes a few days for docs. to show up on the list. If you have a DHL notification that it was received Friday, you should be ok.

Rainmama: momentary panic here, what reply card? If we sent the $300 deposit and did this online, it’s ok right?
Only reply card I found is a withdrawal one in the original acceptance package.

Don’t panic! Awelex and my S are both spring admits, and there’s a card you send back stating your intent to take the spot.

Ok I see, thanks rainmama. With all the stuff that needs to be handled, something important could be overlooked.

I finally got an email. They have received it, yay! Sorry for causing panic attacks :)
