Reporting from the front lines of moving a kid home after 1st year: WTH with all this stuff?

Funny you say their parents will pack for them. No way Jose… Lol… We learned freshman year that for some reason “we” made packing for college and back home very stressful for my daughter. We learned she had her “own” way of doing it that didn’t correlate to the way we would do it. But that worked for her. My wife wanted to put things away for her as we brought more boxes up and she wanted to do it “later” when we were gone. Trust me… Let them do it unless like my son he didn’t care. His first year in an apartment and my wife wanted to arrange the kitchen stuff so it would be logical. He didn’t have any boxes so we did help him pack and brought up boxes. Next year we are folding some boxes and keeping them in his closet so he can start without us.

Or do what I do. Simple rule. If you don’t take it back it’s going to Goodwill as soon as you leave.
