Would have to add that UBC is not a small school by any means, but it might feel like a small one if enrolled in MB. I would guess that some of their classes would be away from the main campus.

Denied at: Duke, Stanford and Swarthmore
All were admits to Marine Biology programs. We visited all schools, but as the year progressed his priorities started to change, and in the end he fell in love with the school that is not the strongest in Marine Biology, but has excellent academics, and where he simply felt the most at home. We are happy with his choice (although it surprised us), especially since he wants to stay in academia, and go on to a Ph.D, in the future, so UCLA will give him a good foundation.

URI especially in oceanography is world class. They have fun but not s classic party school at all
What about the New College of Florida? I’m not sure about the party scene, but my middle school aged son is interested in marine biology and I put it in my back pocket while we were touring other “colleges that change lives” schools with my older son. NCofF looks really unique.

Curious as to whether any posters have visited New College of Florida within the past year or two ? Before that time it had a reputation as a school with very heavy marijuana usage. Has that calmed down ? Or at least become a bit more discreet ?
