COMLEX level 1 is now P/F–just like USMLE Step 1 is p/f.
The general consensus is that program directors are using Step 2/Level 2 score as a screener instead of Step 1/Level scores. (They did that last year too when they started getting large numbers of applicants without a Step 1/Level 1 score.)
Residency candidate ranking methods vary from program to program and specialty to specialty–just as they always have.
Since many med school have eliminated AOA recognition, AOA status is becoming less important for candidate screening/ranking..
Top programs are pretty much ignoring signaling since so many candidate use (waste?) one of their limited signals on them. They already know they are a desirable program; candidates don’t need to tell them that.
Wishing luck to all of those trying to match this year. My daughter is a long way from the match process but just reading about it online is stressful so I try not to look too often. I hope everyone gets what they want.
There were five of us who had kids who matched in 2020 (the year of no medical school graduations). All women, all different specialties, and all landed where they wanted to be. It was an exciting time, for sure.
That’s great. How come I thought match day was Friday?
Match Week takes place the third week of March, from Monday 10 am ET – Friday 12 pm ET. For 2024, Match Week takes place Monday, March 11th – Friday, March 15th. Students find out Monday morning whether or not they matched; however, they don’t hear where they matched until Friday of the same week
