@Vladenschlutte, I agree. I think all of their sauces are just absolutely loaded with sugar or some form of sugar/syrup.
Oh yeah - don’t like Nathan’s hotdogs, but that’s probably cause I’m partial to Chicago dogs (Portillos or Demon Dogs)
Anyone remember that The Office episode where Michael goes to NYC and talks about going to his favorite NYC pizza joint and it’s Sbarros? Lol.
@doschicos mmmmmmmmmm autostrada food. The best.
I don’t do/get the frozen custard .
When my first two kids were young, Friendly’s was a favorite spot for me to take them when H was not with us. Easy, made them happy, and was different than McDonalds. Haven’t been back in 15+ years and the one near us actually closed this year.
If we are talking ice cream and talking regional, I’ll without hesitation say JENI’S! Every flavor I’ve ever had is a winner.
Also will put a vote in for Portillo’s if I’m in the Chicago area. From a hot dog to the chopped salad, so easy to find something to love!
Pizzagirl–My daughter still swears there is no milk like Oberweis! Loved that they delivered weekly to the front porch in our Chicago suburb.
We also have Portillos on our list of “must visits” when we are back in Chicago later this month.
My fave

think Panera's food is tasteless - the bread is heavy and the salads are boring.

The only thing I like at Panera is their pumpkin muffins. H and I will split one.
Their ranch dressing was sooooo bad that I actually wrote to the company. They must have gotten other complaints because it’s gone now…with no replacement!!! How hard is it to have a decent ranch dressing??
In Calif, for fast food Asian, I like Pei Wei and Pick Up Stix

The one in South Coast Plaza is not as great, I’ve heard from my sister.

???
The PF Changs in South Coast Plaza?? It’s as good as any other PF Changs.
I love visiting the gourmet food trucks when I’m in southern Cal.
frozen custard? what is that? Is that kind of like Steel City Pops? (I do like SCP)
I don’t get going to PF Chang in South Coast Plaza when there’s great ‘real’ Asian food down the street in Tustin and Irvine.

“Pizza Hut - It’s the worst of the Domino’s/Papa John’s/Pizza hut major national brand pizza grouping.”
They’re all gross!
<<<
@Pizzagirl I won’t argue with that, but where does PIZZAgirl find the best pizza? lol
Where I live, Broadway Pizza is the best. Family owned, NY style pizza.
132 my question too?

Yes, that is true. We often hang out in Little Saigon for Vietnamese food.
When I read and responded to the comment about South Coast Plaza, my head was thinking about Fashion Island. Now that I think about it, I don’t think SCP has a PFChangs. Anyway…PF Changs at Fashion Island seems to be a typical “ladies who lunch” sort of place. After shopping at Saks, NM, Bloomies, and other high end places there, they eat at PFC.
Well…there is New Haven pizza…and there is Chicago pizza. Very different but both good.
I think the comment about South Coast Plaza related to Din Tai Fung, the delicious and authentic dumpling place, not PF Chang’s.
I always thought that frozen custard was just another name for soft-serve ice cream. Is there a difference? If so, I don’t think I’ve ever had frozen custard.
Frozen custard has more butterfat in it. Regular soft serve can be junk. The place I love uses cream to make their frozen custard, not some artificial crap.
Never had better pizza than Rizzo’s outside Philly. I’ve tried Phila style in Key West and other places, but I guess my taste buds got set in early childhood.
I’m happiest making my own.
