Rice 2010 Grad taking questions

I thought it was so nice that you asked about ways to be supportive – and I hope that our terrific alums/students will provide insights … Just asking the question shows how tuned in you are.

And I’m sure you’ll do a great job letting your son know clearly that what he’s doing at Rice means so much to you at home. Our son took us on a wonderful campus tour and we met friends along the way. Sitting in on classes with him and seeing his involvement made us all feel good. We let our son know that we were thoroughly convinced that he made the right choice … and that we thought he was doing really well juggling a very busy schedule. Meeting his profs and masters and friends and hanging out in his suite felt good for all of us – we could see that he was happy and thriving – and so is our family.

I think a trip to Ruggles is in order… their dessert menu is really nice. But let your son take the lead on where he likes to eat on Saturday nights …

Bird rock, I think it will all come very naturally for you, but I’d love to hear about what students look for from the weekend.
