I was wondering if you submitted your common app on 11/1. Were you able to submit your portfolio after the deadline since you canāt submit it until getting the Rice Application portal?
We just realized that if my son submits his common app tomorrow which is the RD deadline. He wonāt be able to submit his portfolio until he receives his portal. Hoping it can still be accepted.

As an update, I unfortunately got rejected, so wishing the best of luck to your son for regular decision.
This is pretty after-the-fact, but I remembered submitting my portfolio on the day of the deadline, the application portal information was sent to me quite quickly (within the same day I submitted the common app), but that might be because of ED, so I canāt really speak for RD.
But from other ivy league/ top tier colleges, Iāve read somewhere that they allow supplementals after the deadline, so I would guess the same holds true for Rice. But, I really hope that a late supplemental wonāt be the sole reason your son gets denied, seems unfair. Again, best of luck for RD, and although my Rice prospects have ended, congrats to all those whoāve been admitted from ED!
Oof, I realized I didnāt answer your question, I submitted my common app on October 29th, and then uploaded the portfolio exactly on 11/1. I remember the checklist updating pretty quick.
Sorry to hear about Rice, but hope you will receive some great options during EA / RD rounds.
We emailed the admissions office and confirmed that he can upload the portfolio to the portal once itās active.
All his apps are in, and the long wait begins.

2018 - 3/23 (Friday)
2019 - 3/26 (Tuesday)
2020 - 3/27 (Friday)
2021 - 3/30 (Tuesday)
2022- 3/24 (Thursday)
2023 ā 3/27 (Monday)

Yes, and they will post on social media (and I believe send an email) before they release the decisions.
