Rice University Transfers for Admission to the Fall 2014 Class

Accepted as well! First place I’ve heard back from. Not sure how the deadline of the 13th will work when some schools say they send things out the 15th, though.

Has anyone received financial aid award info yet? Mine isn’t posted on ESTHER, and that’s pretty important in my decision.

Congrats to all! :)

Haven’t heard anything yet. This is painful!!!

It is annoying that cc doesn’t show exact posting time after a few months. For those who apply for transfer next year, it is April 30th now and few people(not including me :frowning: ) have recieved thier decisions yesterday(4/29).

or just hover over the date for few seconds and you will see the date to the minute

I received my decision 4/29 too! Still waiting for others but I’m very excited

Congrats guys!

Yea I hear you @babbitt that May 13th deadline hurts.

Also I haven’t received fin aid yet either but I called them and realized i was missing a component so they said I’ll get it as soon as I turn that missing component in.

Apparently Rice only accepted about 30 transfers from a pool of almost 800 this year, so about a 3% acceptance rate, congrats everyone who got in :)

Whats the source of your info? @Springg1994

Any educated guesses on when the next round of admission decisions will come through?

@wellletshope‌ I talked to the transfer registrar guy on Friday and he told me that. They cut down from admitting 80-100 transfers in a year to less than 30 to guarantee all the transfers on campus housing

3% acceptance rate?? That’s insane. I have a really bad feeling about this, I am 99% sure that I will be rejected. Apparently you either get the early result or bad result :((

@gbmabuoc I have very bad feeling, too. Having received a bad score of SAT CR and two rejs from other two universities, I think rejection is fine (although painful), for I`ve got used to it :(

Prospective transfer student here,

Rice utilizes rolling admissions. Given that fact, is it possible that they’d send out the acceptance letters in batches as well? Or is it divided into accepted vs. rejected batches? Haven’t received any notifications via email or snail mail yet, and I’m trying not to freak out after reading that there was only a 3% acceptance rate for the incoming fall 2014 semester.

Noticed that someone on this thread relayed that information, would they be able to shed any clarification on how it affects rolling admissions?

If I were to assume anything, I’d say this is the same process as the Vandy’s rolling admissions. They send out their decisions in waves, with the first wave as their top choices. Depending on how the first wave acceptees reply, then they move on to the second wave, and so on until all the spots are filled.

I have no idea how it will affect rolling admissions, I know they didn’t release acceptances based on who applied earliest because I applied literally on the last day. But from what I gathered it seems like they sent out 25-30 acceptances and they’re waiting to hear back from those people on the 13th. If they don’t fill that quota I’m guessing they having a waiting list, or a ranked list of the next round of people they will send acceptances out to. This is mostly hearsay, but its my best assumption. The only thing I heard for sure is that they only plan on enrolling 25-30 people

@Springg1994‌ I applied literally 12 hrs before the deadline, and my materials weren’t received till the end of March. I think that wouldn’t be too much a problem.

Anyone here decide not to go to Rice?

@gbmabuoc‌ I accepted, I’m hoping it was the best choice

Yea I accepted as well. Will almost certainly be going to Rice, the may 13th deadline for accepting the offer means that a few college responses haven’t come in yet. Curious to see what they will be.

Perhaps the reason that the deadline was so early is that there will be a second round of acceptances filling in the spaces of those first rounders who decided not to enroll.

Has anyone been in contact with the admissions office/does anyone know if the June 1st deadline for all admissions decisions to be released that was posted on the website still holds?
