CPT has very particular requirements, though. You may have to use OPT for internships if you don’t meet those.
Networks are generally not going to overcome company policies assuming you are talking about reasonably sized firms.

I agree that cogsci internships will be stem, but that isn’t what the OP is aiming for.
Yes. It seems unlikely to me that you could use a cogsci focused degree to get CPT for a finance internship, though, which is why I said you may need to use OPT. The designation of STEM or otherwise will be more of use for the amount of postgrad OPT you get, assuming policies haven’t changed by the time you graduate. Your OPT also has to be related to your degree, though.

This. And this squared if you are talking about overcoming FEDERAL policies. If there are significant political changes by the time the OP is in college/post college, there will be a pecking order as to which visa classifications get changed first. Based on what I’m reading (I am not an immigration attorney) the first changes will be the ones impacting farms, hotels, restaurants since those are having the biggest economic impact. There will not be an outpouring of sympathy for the international students who can’t get an internship at a hedge fund due to their visa restrictions.
OP– Best to assume that you are going home once you graduate.

Yup Yup, I guess we will see. I think will things will work out for me simply given the circumstances, but then again we never know. Then again coming back to work in Europe is not a thing I have taken off the table, just lacking the entrepreneurial environment that the US provides.
