How small is the water polo ball or do the men and women who play just have naturally large, grippy hands?
Brasil - Germany soccer match is getting intense. 1-1 now. I am not sure which team will receive the gold medal. I hope Brasil will get it.
Yea, Brazil! <:-P
Never a dull moment. Neymar concluded the game with the last successful shut out kick.
Brasil truly deserves the gold medal!
So much emotion! Great match. Both teams did well, but Brazil really put it out there today.
The men have a terrible history with the baton. I recall a year the women dropped it, too. They probably can’t practice for a year since it is not know who will be in the relay. But geez…I would think a few solid weeks would be good enough. It seems like it’s an afterthought.
Michael Phelps interview on ET. He is focused on his son and getting married.
This story is about USA’s Gold Medal Triathlon athlete Gwen Jorgensen and her amazingly supportive husband.

For the rice cooker enthusiasts, there is mention of how he uses this to cook for her. ![]()
It’s great that her husband is uber supportive, but I’ll bet there are many wives who are equally supportive of their Olympic husbands and don’t get that kind of recognition. Just sayin.
During commercial break I went to youtube to watch the theme song of “Chariots of fire”
What a powerful movie.
Runners, I have a question. I would think your footwear would be crucial to your performance AND I would think that people are very picky about what running shoe they choose.
Yet watching the track events I see a huge majority of runners wearing what looks like (to my untrained eyes) identical bright yellow shoes. I can see that maybe a shoe company will sponsor a team but still I’d think athletes want their shoe of choice, no?
@alwaysamom See, there’s the difference between your wonderful CBC and our craven NBC, which ended coverage early last night to show us – not a culturally significant event – but an episode of a stupid sitcom which they’ve been heavily promoting all during the Olympics.
At the moment, I’m going around NBC and watching Comcast’s live feed of track and field. Just saw the men’s 5000. No commercials, no commentary, no insipid “features,” just the action at the track as it happened. I also got to see the entire medal ceremony of the women’s 4 x 100, not just the parts of it which the male network execs thought might interest my tiny female brain.
The runners are wearing the shoes of their sponsor. Yellow is in!
Oh no. Second place American in 5000 meters was just disqualified. And NBC commentator delivered the news to him in the post run interview. Very sad.
Classy NBC. Not.
I really don’t see what he did to be disqualified. I hope they review the tapes.
Yes, Paul has been reinstated!!! Silver for him
Looks like he stepped out of bounds.
… but wait, he’s been reinstated!
He was on the line. I’m not sure what qualifies as out of bounds. That was weird. First he was out for interfering with another runner, then he was deemed out of bounds. Glad it worked out for him.
I was heartbroken for Paul Chelimo when I heard he’d been DQ’d. I cannot imagine running 5000 meters, winning a silver, doing a victory lap and then being ambushed on live television with news you’d been disqualified.
I am so very happy that he was reinstated. Tonight was a banner night for the US. Gold in the 1500 for the first time in over 100 years. Silver in the 5000, first medal since 1964. And both relays won. Allyson Felix wins her 9th medal. Incredible.
