I wonder why there weren’t more Monkees songs on the radio this morning? Not to make a crazy comparison, but after Whitney Houston died her music was all over the radio for days.

I was missing me some “Daydream Believer” and “Last Train to Clarksville”…

This is so sad. He was still touring and was still so CUTE! The statement on his website is very nice. [D a v y J o n e s | O f f i c i a l S i t e](http://davyjones.net/)
They’re playing a lot of songs and film clips on the Today Show this morning.

I wanted to go to those Monkees concerts, but my parents wouldn’t let me. A friend and I kept working on our parents, hoping they’d relent, but no such luck.

Scout59: Cousin Brucie did an entire Davy Jones tribute last night on Syrius 60’s on 6…

I imagine if you have an oldies station in your area, they are playing…( we have CBS-FM, 101.1 in the NY market)

Sad, just sad. Only 66.

My week revolved around that TV show. Played the albums (bought with baby sitting proceeds) the rest of the time. But my affections were for one of the other Monkees.

How sad - he was too young. I don’t know if it’s true, but I read somewhere that he went to the hospital with chest pains the night before he died, and they sent him home. If that’s true, how tragic. Same thing happened many years ago to someone I knew.

I wonder if he had any known heart issues. Last August he gave an interview and joked that he used to be a heartthrob, but now he’s just a coronary. Scary, if he was just kidding. Also scary because he looked like he was in pretty good shape.

Speaking of other teen aged idols , Jones was supposed to do a concert with David Cassidy ( my favorite back then) in Miami in April. A long way and many years from his famous Madison Square Garden concert - my first. I think Cousin Brucie was the MC!

^According to this article, Davy Jones went to a nearby hospital the night before because of chest pains.

In our little local hospital, anyone coming into the ER with chest pains stays for at least 24 hours of monitoring and tests. I was told this when I brought my H into the ER with chest pains. They told us that they treat everyone who comes in with chest pains as if they were having a cardiac event. Their philosophy was to treat first rather than waste time waiting for test results. In other words, the treatment (IV fluids, nitro, plus a multitude of tests) won’t kill the patient, but delaying treatment might. They make (highly suggest) the patient stay for at least 24 hours so blood can be drawn every few hours to test for a cardiac protein and the patient is monitored (24 hr record of EKG).

when I played Barbies with my friends, we pretended they each had a boyfriend who was one of the monkees. I always got Mickey, the prize was Davy then Peter than Mike. a few months ago I downloaded “Girl” just for the memories. Sad

bio channel is airing his biography now

He was one of my last concerts. I saw him, and the Monkees last summer.
