<p>This brought tears to my eyes.</p>
<p>I was pretty little but I remember watching it on TV. For a while my memories seemed somewhat confused because the videos I’ve seen of other’s watching the moon landing showed that it was dark outside their homes when Neil walked outside but I remembered it being very bright at our house…then we went to Florida in the summer and it was DARK by 9:00. Coming from the midwest, the sun starts setting much latter than that during the summer :D.</p>
<p>I too think it is sad that we may soon have no one alive that walked on the moon–or even traveled to the moon–but maybe we will have people that have been to Mars before then?</p>

<p>The consoling thought is that, due to lack of weather on the moon, the moon-walkers’ footprints will still be on the moon for millions and perhaps billions of years after they and we are all gone.</p>
<p>coureur, the lifetime of the footprints will unfortunately “only” last tens to hundreds of millions of years due to impacts from micrometeorites. :)</p>
<p>We’ve got a long way to go before anyone walks on Mars. 
Dunno if it’ll even be in our lifetimes.</p>
