Per my call to Darryl Davis(darryl.davis@ed.gov (202) 502-7657) at the US department of Education the funding was aprroved for this year and at almost the levels of last year (see http://www.ed.gov/programs/iduesbyrd/byrdallotments2006.pdf )
In My state of Mo. there is some funny business going on because only 54 schloarships were awarded as compared to 2005 when there was 154.
Calls and emails to Laura.harrison@dese.mo.gov ph: 573-751-1668 at the Mo. state Education haven’t shed any light either.

Whether your son or daughter received the Byrd please let you Congress and Reps know that you think it is important to continue with the funding! I even emailed Robert C. Byrd
