Robertson Results 2017

If we are a semifinalist for UNC, can we assume we will be accepted at Duke also?

I received my rejection tonight from Duke. Kinda disappointing. Obviously not likely to get it, but I was optimistic and really thought I did a nice job with the application. Just curious, what did the acceptances say?

Huh; you received a rejection? So I wonder, if we’ve been chosen at UNC Chapel Hill, will we even get a Duke rejection?

My letter says: "Congratulations! You have been selected as a semifinalist for the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. You were identified not only for what you have accomplished in high school but, more importantly, for your desire to develop your leadership potential and to make your own unique impact in college, the community, and ultimately the larger world.

The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program is more than just a financial award; it is a leadership development program and a community. There is no typical Robertson Scholar, and we encourage and challenge them all to make their mark in college and beyond."

Then it goes on to talk about interview details, which will be via Google Hangout.

I only applied for and am a semifinalist at Duke! Does anybody know how many people make it this far?

I think about 150 to 200 between the two schools. I get the impression that only about 1/6th or 1/7th are semifinalists/finalists at both.

i just got the email for both of the schools. does anyone know what the interview will look like? i’m a little bit nervous about it.

Should we assume we’ve been rejected if we haven’t heard?? :)

And just got a likely letter to duke!!! So happy!

I didn’t get robertson, but I got an email from AB Duke saying I’m a finalist! So
Yay!

Not sure how valuable this will be, but I am an Australian who recently applied for that 1 robertson scholarship place available to Australians. I had my final interview yesterday, meeting Mr robertson and a few other interviewers.

If I could impart some wisdom based on my experiences I would say two things:

 1. Don’t stress. Mr robertson is actually a really nice and surprisingly normal guy, and certainly doesn’t make you feel pressured. So don’t stress about him!!! In any case, he is impossible to read, so you will never know if you’re really impressing him or not quite hitting the mark; so don’t waste energy trying to read him, but instead put all your energy into presenting yourself from the heart. That’s the best you can do!!
 2. I realise many of you will be stressing about what they will ask and the like. I know that, because I went through the same thing. Let me give you the simplest piece of advice: just know exactly why you want the scholarship. That’s the fundamental basis of the interview. And if you’re someone who genuinely wants it for all the reasons you give and someone who genuinely wants the scholarship to pursue its aims etc, then you will not find any interview question difficult at all.

If any of u have the time, I’d really appreciate if you could give me your advice in return: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/1472034-please-help-intl-applicant-duke-robertson-vs-stanford-wharton-vs-oxford.html

DS is a semifinalist for Duke  I only found out about it the other day, when he told me that it looks like he is in at Duke  He already has a full ride scholarship at UNC , applied to Duke regular decision but never applied for Robertson. He has been asked to fill out the application now (?). Well, they way I look at it is another interview = another learning opportunity :)
