Daughter got into physics major with 26k merit scholarship.
Just Curious if anyone is still waiting to hear on the EA list? I have that sinking feeling that maybe yesâ came out and noâs are on the way? fingers crossed they are still working through the list.
The RIT subreddit posts still come up in my feed, and there are still people there who have not received EA decisions. Also, there are many people who have posted recent decisions there who were admitted to their second choice. However, it is believed that not all departments have released results yet. What is your major and second choice?
Does anyone know how they do housing for freshmen at RIT? Specifically, is your priority for housing impacted by the date you put your deposit down? From old threads it looks like they successfully get freshmen housed in dorms on campus, I am just trying to gather more recent information on the process if itâs available.
My Daughter first choice is Mechanical Engineering and I think she has Electrical Engineering as her second choice. The anxiousness comes in when her friend got her acceptance on Monday to the same program. Hopefully more news comes out today!
My D24 is a first year at RIT. I do believe housing priority is impacted by commitment/deposit date. That said, we didnât deposit until 4/30 and she had no problem at all getting housing in the dorm she wanted.
Edited to add: I believe housing is guaranteed for all first years.
Fingers crossed, I hope she hears soon!
Thanks for the information! I donât love that but it makes sense, given how tight their housing seems to be, and I am glad housing is guaranteed for the first year students.
My daughter was deferred to RD at an in-state school and I would anticipate her deciding only after she hears back from that schoolâs RD round. That would still put us before your timing so weâre probably okay. Thinking about it, many potential RIT dormseekers might be in a similar situation and perhaps deposits go in after RD decisions come out at many schools. We may have a couple months at least before we need to worry about housing priority.
Yes, my daughter had applied RD (there was no EA option last year) and didnât hear until March, I think. There was an accepted student day event in early April, and I imagine thatâs when many commit. Good luck to your daughter wherever she lands. If you have any qâs about RIT, Iâm happy to answer, based on our one full semester in experience.
Still waiting on an EA decision here. While 1st choice major is impacted, I would be surprised if C25 wasnât accepted to one of the other 2 majors they listed since RIT isnât the type of school to yield protect. I guess weâll find out eventually.
ETA, Iâm seeing on reddit now that someone was waitlisted today, doesnât sound like they were admitted to another choice major. Perhaps all the acceptances came out first, and today theyâre moving on to WL and rejections
S25 just received his decision yesterday. He submitted late October.
The Dreaded we received 4000 applicants and had 200 seats available letter received⊠She has requested Electrical as a second choice so now we wait for RD. Congrats to all who got good news this week!!
My student (MechE/Aero)was notified of the merit scholarship a few days ago with admission but then yesterday was notified of the performing arts scholarship. It was only another $1000 .is that typical? Wasnât sure if they lowered the scholarship or if maybe others get more. Every little bit helps but COA still high.
Where did your student receive the performing arts scholarship notification, to their email? My daughter also applied but hasnât heard back (as far as I know).
yes, got an email yesterday
Well, congratulations! From what I have seen $1000-$2000 per year is typical, but I donât have any insider information or anything. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will come along with better information.
EA decisions are still slowly trickling in. C25 admitted today, with $27k/yr presidential, $2k/yr National Merit, and a request to send audition video in for performing arts $.
