Merit scholarships appeared in my son’s portal the day after the admissions decision.

some EC’s
still haven’t heard anything. Fingers crossed for this week!! I’ve spoken to many current MSU students and they’ve said don’t worry until thanksgiving week.
@lrk1475 We are in the same boat, no word yet. Today they asked for 1st semester grades for a number of folks I know, but as of yet noone has been officially deferred. We just haven’t heard anything at all.
So very frustrating! Application has been in since week one of early application yet no word while I continue to see applicants with similar to less stats being accepted. This process is hard to understand.
@dad1975 - it really is. I just posted this on another thread but sharing here, too. I emailed MSU to see if I could find any insight into the process; this was the response:
Thank you for your email. The timing that we give to applicants is that you can hear back within 12 weeks or by January 15 if the application and supporting material was received by November 1. Majors of incoming freshman doesn’t hinder the applicants application in anyway. And we can not speak on others decisions and why they may have received a decision before yours but we are trying to make decisions and respond to students as soon as we can. Decisions are going out daily so just keep checking the portal
Thanks for sharing and good luck!
Other than hearing about the group of deferrals from Tuesday, I’ve heard nothing else - no admits, no denies, no more deferrals. Anyone here of status changes this week?
I’ve heard of one acceptance today, that’s all. Applied around oct 31st, not sure of stats
Got accepted this morning!!! Sounds like many others did as well, a good number of my friends heard this morning but none of us received an email, just happened to check the portal.

There are two different MSU admission threads so posting here as well!
So for anyone keeping track at home…from an extremely small sample size (this forum, and friends / classmates) it appears that all the instate applicants that had a 3.6 and a 26 (don’t know the SAT equivalent) received their acceptances on Saturday. This was the last school my kid was waiting to hear from (applied all EA and rolling) so now it’s decision time. Good luck to all, keep the faith!
Posting in both MSU groups
My friend’s son also got accepted in his portal over the weekend.
Stats:
instate
Applied Sept. 15
1180 SAT
3.9 GPA
(But he takes a lot of music classes, so his GPA may have been lower when State recalculated it.)
Lots of extracurriculars and leadership
2 AP classes (our school offers 10)
(Also, he wants to be a music major, so that may change how they look at the app as well.)
Accepted this morning!
OOS
GPA 3.8
SAT 1390
9 APs, Varsity captain of 2 teams
Would we have heard of merit $ with acceptance?
