<p>UIUC does not have mens’ swimming either, it got cut several years ago for gender equity and financial reasons. I would guess Iowa doesn’t have mens’ soccer for the same reason. UIUC doesn’t have rowing primarily because there is no place to row. Both Iowa and Illinois have more womens’ varsity sports than mens’, most likely because of gender equity reasons. I think the gender equity has more to do with money than # of athletes, but I’m not sure.</p>
