Sacramento

Sacramento is extremely close to Davis… if there weren’t so many trees around, you would probably be able to see the skyscrapers from campus. But it’ll take a little longer by bus than by car.

You actually have several options to get to Sacramento by bus.

First, the UC Davis Medical Center Shuttle (takes you to the medical center, which is near downtown sacramento). Takes about half an hour.

Second, YoloBus route 42 - takes you to the center of downtown, but takes longer (like, 45 minutes)

The UC Davis - UC Berkeley shuttle takes an hour and a half. Add another 15-20 minutes from Berkeley to get to downtown San Francisco (so you’re looking at about two hours, realistically, to go from campus to downtown SF by bus/public transit)

And, if you’re willing to pay a little more, you can take Amtrak to San Francisco from Davis. Davis has a train station, and the Bay Area has several stations (all of which connect up to regional transit).

And for getting around Davis, here’s the Unitrans homepage (with a route map). Unitrans is operated jointly by ASUCD and the City of Davis.

Here are the Bay Area’s two main regional transit websites:
