I realize this a couple days old, but here’s what I have found while in the area…

By all means, take him on Mayfield Rd, not Cedar, to Warrensville Center Rd. Cedar has miles of vacant shopping centers in the area bypassed, and is a little trashy. Mayfield has the beautiful (and suburbanite-pleasing ;)) Severance Towne Center, site of the former Severance Mall (don’t mention that ;)), and it contains a few restraunts, a Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Cinema, Borders, and a lot of other nice stuff. Nice housing is across the street, as this area has historically been a center of Cleveland’s wealth, and Warrensville Center Rd. is at the intersection.

Then, go a mile or two south to Cedar.

Going this way, you’ll also run into the urban 'burb of University Heights, which is really nice and has such cool features as a Target with a parking garage. John Carroll U is also nearby, thus the city name. Then, it’s a straight shot on Cedar into Beachwood (a great choice, with the Luxury Mall, lifestyle center and general poshness).

Anyways, at the very least your dad will feel safe, and hopefully happy as well, because you are “surrounded” by very affluent areas at Case. Talk the deal over with your parents while dining on a ginormous piece of cheesecake at Lyndhurst Village’s Cheesecake Factory, and most likely all will be good :)
