As an employer, I am very concerned about on-line courses. One or two, or even up to four, fine. Entire degree, not so fine. I do not see how cheating can be controlled. I think on-line courses may work for highly motivated, adequately prepared students, not so well for many others.

I work as a CPA. We have mandatory continuing professional education requirements. For the most part, I take in person classes to satisfy them. Occasionally I take an online class (typically where a specialized course is not available in person). I do not find them as informative for the most part. Sometimes I will watch a webcast with very highly regarded experts, and they are worthwhile – but understand, I am highly motivated, and knowledgeable in the area.
