San Diego for Spring Break? Any ideas?

^^I wouldn’t recommend the Hyatt Regency if you are going to walk to campus. It’s clear over on the other side of the freeway at the Aventine. And the Marriott is even farther away, almost to UTC.

The Estancia, Residence Inn, and Sheraton are better bets. The Estancia is probably the nicest of the three.

^^ It’s not really that far - just the distance of the width of the (wide) freeway - about a third of a mile from the Sheraton - but I’m a walker.

Mostly I used the Hyatt to indicate how much a cloud 9 shuttle would be to the area - it doesn’t look that bad.

Thanks so much for the info!

If you have time and if you like the beach, you can walk across the street from UCSD (across from the Muir College resHalls) and down a couple of more streets and then down a paved path to a very nice beach - Black’s beach. Even if you don’t walk down the path to the beach you might want to walk over there anyway because the view from the cliffs above the beach there is spectacular. You can usually see hang gliders in the sky in this area as well since the glider port is just a little bit north of this point.

Almost any student should be able to tell you how to get there or sometimes you can just follow someone who’s carrying a surfboard.

^^But be forewarned that Black’s beach is also a nude beach, although I’m not sure how much nudity one finds there during the winter.

^^ The nude beach part is further north up by the glider port - sort of between this beach and Torrey Pines beach in the less accessible area. I’ve never seen anyone nude in the area around where the paved path ends at the beach or south from there (to La Jolla Shores beach).

But it’s a good point - I suggest if you go to the beach and want to walk for a ways on the beach to walk south rather than north in order to avoid seeing more than you want to see (if anyone’s even there sans-suit).

Dear Coureur,
thanks for Lorna’s. Just left. Have 1/2 my dinner in container and I ate a ton. :)

Glad you liked it. I was thinking just yesterday that’s it’s been a while since I ate at Lorna’s so I need to get back there.

Take me, take me!!
