That’s a great site - thanks. Some different photos than on the hotel’s website. I think that looks like a great location- I’m done! Whew.
If you go on google maps and check out the hybrid view you can even see the wooden rollercoaster down the road. Cool…
My husband will be training ( for a triathlon) so he can jog along the beach in the morning and the girls can relax on the beach at the hotel for few hours.

Is traffic difficult to get from Mission Bay to the freeways?

No - traffic should be easy from Mission Bay to SDSU. There’s not a lot of the freeway left west of there since the ocean is so close. In the mornings most traffic on I-8 is westbound and the reverse in the evening. In addition, you won’t be going far.

Your H probably knows this but there are regular ocean swimmers at La Jolla Cove who swim from the cove to a buoy and then back. They do this year-round, even now when the water’s cold. If he’s training he might want to hit that spot. It’s really not that far from where you’ll be staying. If you haven’t been there, it’s very nice.

yeah, that is weird about AAA; I think my book is current, so I can’t explain that one…
you can’t go wrong with the location you’ll have, sooo enjoy!

I’ve never stayed at the Bahia, but out of town friends have, and they seem to like it. Mission Bay area is nothing like SDSU though.

A college kid would probably like Pacific Beach, because it’s sort of a happening place - parties and plenty of young folk about. But it has always struck me a little seedy and possibly noisy at night. And again, it’s nowhere near SDSU. Anywhere on the beach is not going to be near SDSU, since SDSU is located several miles inland.

Thanks for all of the great advice here - we will be going next week and have decided on the Bahia. It looked nice and the price was reasonable, I figured my d could check out the beach areas where the students hang out.
Now I am wondering if anybody familiar with SDSU can give me tips for what to check out on campus…any highlights we should not miss or maybe things we should be aware of to make an informed decision? Is there a student hang-out we should try to hit for lunch? Any tips would be much appreciated!

A few years back we got a good rate at the Paradise Point by booking a “package” through the AAA web site rather than asking for the AAA rate at the hotel. The “package” was really only three nights stay, nothing else involved. Really loved it there, too. And it’s very close to the beaches.
