San Jose vs Sonoma

Okay so I am doing one of the checklists and it says I need to turn it in in person or by mail to the aid office but how in the hell am I suppose to do it in person aren’t they closed? And also, by mail what if it doesn’t get their on time (by the 24th) and how will they even recieve it if they are closed?

Also since I already paid the 180 bucks for the “Next Steps” does that mean I am committed? Also I think I found my aid letter but it literally doesn’t say aid letter on their that’s dumb as heck. I am barely getting anything and I have an EFC of 0. What am i suppose to do now? starve to death and die i guess

I clicked on something that said ‘Financial Aid Preliminary Eligibility’. I don’t even know what that means

I am sorry that you having these issues, but you should have not enrolled unless you understood your financial package first.

Also you were told on your other discussions, that Cal states do not meet need with an EFC of 0.

You were given options like commuting to your local community college which I believe is Cuesta, attend there for 2 years, work and save money and try to transfer to Cal Poly SLO, your local Cal state or if you were able to fund on-campus housing for 2 years then consider a CSU farther away.

You are eligible for a Cal grant which will cover Cal State or CC tuition, Pell grant of $6345 which would cover some parts of your housing costs and possibly work study which should cover books and personal expenses. You are not given work study money until you earn it. You can also take out $5500 Federal student loan. If you still have a Gap in costs, then it is up to you and your family to pay the Gap.

Cuesta is good community college and being local to Cal Poly SLO gives you the student, priority when transferring.

The reality is that many students cannot afford to go away and live on-campus for college. Many will attend a CC or commute to their local Cal State.

I would suggest you with draw your SIR and get your orientation money refunded. Enroll at Cuesta and be a top student so you can transfer to your choice Cal State or even UC.

Best of luck. With perseverance and time, you will get to your goal, you are just taking a different path.

Thank you.
