SAT II Biology Progress Thread

@drones that’s good to hear. I got a 660 on sparknotes, so maybe I’ll do better. I think I’m going to do a SAT 1 practice test this weekend since I’m rusty on it.

chloroplasts, leucoplasts, and chromoplasts are all plastids.

I’m taking Bio M on October 5th.
I am using the Pearson’s AP guide, which is a little known gem. Very comprehensive and well written.

Got a 98 on my Ecology test (not an SAT test). Oh well, better luck next time.

700+ is considered a good score for the SAT Bio test.

That’s not bad. I’m taking Biochemistry and were doing nothing pertaining to biology yet. We’re talking about matter and such. Boring? Yes. It’s only because I know what it is and everything, but physical changes was something I’d forgot about. I don’t know my conversions either. I never bothered to remember them.

Viscosity is how fast a liquid is able to evaporate.

Guys, I need to know which what y’all heard about the sat test, if it’s harder than the AP test or not. This girl keeps on saying that it is harder while I read on here that it wasn’t.

Don’t you mean resistance to flow? Like honey has high viscosity, water has low?

@Annl233, they changed the AP test this past year. If you just took it this year (last school year), you might’ve noticed it was more logic/reasoning-based than hard facts. The SAT ii is more like the old AP Bio test with lots more memorization required. I’m taking it this weekend. Bit nervous, although I did okay on the AP test (4) I don’t think I actually learned much from the class itself (a combination of faults; mine and the teacher’s).

@Yakisoba thank you SO MUCH for the extra practice test link, I’ll try to go through as many as I can this next week before the 5th. Already done several, but more can’t hurt!

Test date: in 3 days lol
Previous course: Biology I, taught by a horrible teacher
Prep material: Barron’s
I’ve taken about ten practice tests and I’ve gotten mostly 780s with a 710 (sparknotes). The other two sparknotes ones were 780 and 790. I plan to take the official college board one tomorrow, and I’m doing a mass review today.

Update:

Bio’s been going well I suppose. Average is 98.3%, got a 98% on the biochemistry test and 100% on the cells test. I don’t feel like this honors bio class is going that much in depth. What can I do?

Taking the test (Bio M) on Saturday (Nov 2). I took GATE Bio when I was a freshman (I’m a senior now) and I also took AP Bio last year.

I just took the practice test in “The Official Study Guide for all SAT Subject Tests” and got a 670 with just the stuff I remembered from AP Bio last year. Do you guys think I can into the 700s by this Saturday with a bit of studying and some luck?

Is sparknotes prep enough to score well on Bio?

No, viscosity is resistance to flow, and it has to do with intermolecular forces, and most importantly, it won’t be on the SAT II bio test.

As far as which book is good for SAT II Bio, Sparknotes is decent; Princeton Review is good; Barron’s has a little bit too much information but if you get it all down it’s good; Kaplan is good, and Peterson’s is not so good. By good I mean if you really use the book and remember most of it you should be getting 700s. No prep book will cover 100% of the material; that’s just the bottom line. Some stuff you will have to use inference on and make educated guesses; the other stuff you might have learned from a bio class or what not, etc.

Thanks for the advice IceQube. I read ur progress thread and was inspired to make this one…lol

Does anybody has a panic plan for someone who is going to take the SAT biology subject test on December 7.

I need the same lol^^^^

Going to study bio ap Clifford and baron sat 2

Considering this the worst month of my life because my school is taking final exams in about 2 weeks and I got these tests which means a lot of studying N no sleeping has to happen

Alright, chill. Stop trying to be a smart alec. I inferred based off of a text I read and what somebody said in my science class. Sorry for being wrong. (I’m being sarcastic). Yeah, this is a month later, but I was gone. Thanks. No ones perfect so that doesn’t make you special kk? Thanx. Your input is no longer necessary if you wanna be smart about it. It all about first impressions. People like you make me sick. Are you a teacher of some sort, may I inquire? If you expect anyone to really take something important from your words, then try not to be a jackass about it before adding your unnecessary quibble. Thanks and have a nice life.

I was wrong. State the correct definition. That’s all what was needed. Not your redundant, condescending input thank you very much.

Been like a month since I’ve updated this…since it’s the end of the sem., I’m gonna take a Princeton Review test (finally!) and see how I do…hoping for 700+.

Thatonedude822: Definitely man. Buy Barron’s and do a crash course.

I am taking Math 2C, Lit and Bio m this saturday… eff my life…
