SAT Test Day Tips Needed for 12 Year Old Test Taker

For future reference, I suggest using the official SAT practice tests, under actual timed conditions, on paper. Sample forms are available for everything - fill in name, school, etc., etc., plus the actual tests, bubble sheets, etc. As it’s usually talented youngsters taking the test at this age, they pick it up pretty quickly.

Also be sure to read all of the material College Board distributes related to logistics - registration, breaks, snacks, can/can’t bring, etc.

My D took the SAT at 12 for CTY and had no issues after two practice tests and reading the test overview material.

Hi everyone - slightly unrelated question: I need to register my 12-year old DC for the SAT, and I understand I need to register by mail. Where can I get the paper forms for registration? My DC goes to a catholic school (that ends in 8th grade) and they don’t have the paper forms. My local library doesn’t have the forms either (and not to mention, it’s still closed due to Covid right now).

Any suggestions on where I can go to obtain some forms? Thank you!

Call the College Board and request the paper application for your 12 year. They will mail it to you. It takes awhile to receive it in the mail. It takes awhile to get somebody who even knows about the existence of paper applications. I’d suggest requesting several copies because we can all expect the SAT to be cancelled and rescheduled and moved. My son is now 13 and has had four SAT test dates cancelled and STILL hasn’t t taken it. On the plus side I can now use their terrible, clunky, freezing website to perpetually register him.
