***SAT WRITING QUESTIONS COMMUNITY***

As I’m sure you already know, the SAT essay is not like the essay for your English class. The readers aren’t looking for flowery writing. They are looking for a specific structure and good, strong supporting examples.

In your first paragraph, start off with a strong thesis statement. Take 1 side only. Followed by that in your body paragraphs, use 2 or 3 really strong examples to support your case. Conclude the essay by restating your thesis and examples, and use a good closing sentence.

If you’re looking for a review book, I would use “The Princeton Review.” The best way to learn how to write the essay (for me anyway) is to look at examples of other essays. You can pick up good habits from good writing. I really love this essay from SparkNotes.com, which I’ve posted below. (link –http://www.sparknotes.com/testprep/books/newsat/chapter6section5.rhtml)
