Asking for a friend?!! I don’t buy that for a minute.

ER doctor said “right away”. But you have me slogging thru see the PCP who clears me for seeing cardiology who clears me for the stress test they said “right away” while I was #$&@ hooked to a monitor — yeah, I am feeling impatient. This gonna be well into February for “right away”.

So glad we don’t have that awful nationalized healthcare :confounded:

Hey, I know that you’re going to miss seeing my kid regularly since she might end up going to college out of state. But don’t poop on my kid’s parade and say stuff like “Well, she’ll have to enter the real world at SOME point and figure it out.” You’re just frustrated that Kid won’t be close enough for you to see them regularly. The size of the school has nothing to do with it.

Listen, I get it. You’re going to miss her. We ALL are going to miss her, especially DH, D26, and I. D26 & D24 have shared a bedroom since D24 was about 3 1/2 years old. It’s a big transition for all of us.

so for the time being, I’m going to ignore that stupid comment that you made. The school that’s at the top of the list right now is there for very specific reasons.

Tired of living in panic state waiting for next thing to go wrong

Ugh, I have a Facebook acquaintance who’s sending me very manic messages. I contacted my son’s doctor and he said it sounds like a loved one should take her to the doctor. But I don’t think she has any family in the area. I’m going to try contacting mutual FB friends to see if I can find any help for her.

The doctor did say that the waiting list for psychiatrists through the mental health agency in her area is 9 months. 18 months for therapists. It almost makes me cry to think about what would have happened to my son if he hadn’t gotten help immediately in 2010. :frowning:

It makes me sad that my son, who was very into biking before his wife, can barely bike because of knee issues, and now his wife is very into biking and is even going to a woman’s bike camp. He’s a great sport about it, and I’m happy for her, but I feel really sad for him.

In other news my step-d and her boyfriend who were with us at Christmas, and with many people in the days before us, both have COVID. Apparently symptoms can appear up to 14 days after contact. We and other relatives here have travel coming up.
:crossed_fingers:we don’t get it.

Email got added to some nasty dating and inappropriate websites. Getting 50 emails daily with nastiness. All come from individual users, so have to be blocked individually. Ugh. Going to try and mark them all as spam on my laptop and hope it starts to flag them. And now iOS 15 has changed and made it more difficult to block incoming photos.

This after international travel. Wonder if I joined a corrupted wifi network accidentally? I did turn off wifi and change my email password so hoping that minimizes any exposure.

Ugh

Just helped reunite a lost dog with its owner. Came right to me. Apparently I smell of bacon. My day is made😀

I just spent 2 1/2 days out of my house due to leaf blowers being used for two separate roof jobs adjacent to me, one right after the other. I have hearing issues, tinnitus and migraines. They start at 8 am and finish at 5.

Another day, another school shooting. A 6th grader is dead, 4 other students and a school principal critically injured.

This one is 40 miles from home and two in person friends are employed by this school.

It is too close to home this time. I am glad my kids are out of school, but what about all the other kids? And the adults that work with and for those kids?

On Dec 23, we had a ‘car incident’ where my D’s BF locked the keys in the car. While it was running. At a restaurant. I said no problem, I have AAA, called and they said about 10-15 minutes. Others went into the restaurant and we stayed outside. Oh, it’s been about 30 minutes so called again. Oh, another 20 minutes. Okay, but I’m not getting updates by text as I usually do. Another half hour and I called again, and was hung up on, so another 10 minutes called again. She said she didn’t know when and I said call me and tell me. No call. Finished at restaurant, eating in shifts, everyone very disappointed. Called AGAIN and it’s now been almost 2 hours! Dispatcher says ‘that call was cancelled; driver (truck) said you got into the car.’ WHAT! This at started at 55 degrees, a 10 minute wait and it was now snowing and about 35 degrees and they weren’t coming. They ‘reinstated the call’ and it would be another hour. BF took an Uber home to get extra keys (which we would have done at 5 pm if we’d been told 2 hours and not 10 minutes),

I call AAA to complain. They are so sorry but NOTHING they can do. I say that’s not good enough and I want someone high up to call me. I was told Christmas week, but no call. Today, I call them. Nope, no one was ever going to call me, they don’t do that even though the guy (supervisor) on 12/23 said someone would. No one for me to contact, won’t give me a name or address to file a complaint. So I file an online inquiry, which then sends me an automated message to call their road service. So I do. It’s like you are filing for roadside service, but it won’t work for me, so I stay on the line and tell them that. Nothing wrong with my card. Do I want to speak to member services? Sure. Do I want to speak to a supervisor in roadside services? No, not unless they can do something for me. They send me there and the ‘supervisor’ (I think they are all at the same level and can do nothing) says ‘you already called.’ Yes, I know. I’ve called twice, two very long calls where I’m put on hold.

I did learn that they do not guarantee to EVER send you service. Not in 2 hours, not in 5, not in 24. If no truck wants your call, too bad for you. AAA is just a dispatcher and if no trucks want the job, you don’t get service. I was not out in the country but at a fairly main intersection at 5 pm.

So I filed a BBB complaint saying they need to make it CLEAR that you can’t rely on them in an emergency, even if you’ve been a member for 40 years, even if you are old, and cold and wet. On your own. This was the ONLY time I went to use them all year, so $60 for a membership I got no benefit from.

Oh, now they just MIGHT have a customer escalation person who MIGHT call me. I also told them I looked up their service of process address with the Secretary of State, that I’m calling a bunch of those on TV lawyers, and will just cause as much trouble as I can until they CALL ME.

I am very conflicted. I can’t figure out how to feel. My son just got a really great job in AI, he is very excited about it and listening to the upbeat lilt in his voice makes me so happy.

But we had a big trip scheduled in a month, most of it non refundable. Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam. He just got his typhoid shot. And now he thinks he shouldn’t ask for 16 days off, immediately after being employed, it’s a tiny startup. I agree. But I’m disappointed, wish I hadn’t booked the trip, don’t know if the other kid will go, still thrilled he got potentially his dream job. Don’t know whether to cancel for him in a few days (to get 25% back) or just wait to see if it possibly falls through. So confused!

Well, that’s 25 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

Stupid cable people who put you on hold while they “check something” that you didn’t ask to be checked, and then come back every three or four minutes to make sure you’re still there.

Sheesh, Washpo headline writer! You caught my interest with

“I killed a deer in my bathroom.”

Ten minutes of boring blabla about hunting later, I learn the writer actually shot a deer IN HIS YARD while HE was in his bathroom. Not very interesting!

Fortunately, the top comment is this (so at least I got a laugh out of it):

One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I’ll never know. – Groucho Marx

Just finished an article in my local paper about how “a lot of people” will be surprised to get 1099’s for the interest they earned on high yield bank and CD accounts last year. Are people really that ignorant about interest and taxes??!!

I can’t help myself. I always end up quietly singing “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” when taking down the Christmas decorations.

So your lab results say you have to lose weight and get more active. Big surprise. Considering that you don’t eat veggies or salad and it’s all carbs and meat and fat/dairy, it won’t be fun.
I tried to get you to join the Y last year, but it wasn’t “your thing”.
I have to lose more weight so I can get reconstruction, so it’s probably a good thing.
On the plus side, dinners out will be curtailed.

All week it was supposed to snow. Then the forecast changed to ice. Then snow. Then mixed. I skipped running this morning because of the forecast and it’s basically done nothing.

I had to discontinue a med that I need to be taking. An alternative I don’t want to take isn’t even available right now. It is really frustrating. I don’t even want to test my blood sugar right now. I’m afraid to.

The Christmas tree is still up. The house needs to be cleaned. There are so many decisions to make and I just am paralyzed. I really miss my mom.

Oh Boeing… you have to get your $&@* together, or I’m not going! Alaska pilots and flight attendants especially: you rock.
