Say it Here ‘Cause You Can’t Say it Directly—The Get it Off Your Chest Thread (NO REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS)

Wrong thread

During the 36 hours CC had been offline, I wrote a “rock opera” based on the collective works of the Clash set in 1700’s London, discovered a new species of warm blooded reptile, built a working prototype of a car that is powered entirely by solid human waste and used AI to identify and launch the campaign of a centrist third party candidate for President.

So happy to have CC back and be able to refocus on what’s really impactful and important.

I can’t remember the last time I made a laundry mistake, but today I shrunk a hand wash only sweater when I washed it in the machine in cold water. It was itchy when I wore it yesterday, so I just threw it out. I don’t want sweaters that can only be hand washed!

I have watched so many K-Dramas lately that I almost bowed to my co-worker.

I still remember over 45 years ago taking a very practical, but easy class in college called Drugs, Medicine & Society. Very popular with athletes. I loved watching the tall freshmen on what would be that year’s NCAA championship basketball team amble in with no notebooks/paper, but with their tutor who would take the notes. One day I looked up and our starting quarterback who later turned pro was sitting next to me with one empty seat between all students since it was test day. Had never seen him in class before. He must have been confident in my abilities since he was blatant in copying off of my multiple choice answers.

Fast forward to 2024 and he is now a former cabinet secretary in a previous governor’s administration and per today’s news has just been appointed as special assistant for strategic partnerships to the new president of the community college system where I taught for 32 years. Maybe the cheating wasn’t such a big deal, but it still rubs me the wrong way after all this time.

Today our forum community once again reminds me that our time together is fleeting. Our shared humanity shines when we lift up those who are hurting.

I can’t take it anymore with people shout-talking on speaker phone in the grocery store. Especially at this time of year in the southwest…snowbird season.

I encountered one such Shout Talker in the wild this evening at our local grocery store. He was in a loud conversation with his wife. You could hear all of her side of the conversation, too because, well, Shout Talker was on speaker phone.

We ended up in the same section of an aisle to pick out similar items. I waited my turn while he took his time picking out chili while loudly narrating the entire thing to his wife, and everyone got to hear his wife’s commentary about chili selections, too.

As he was walking away, I finally did it. I said something. In a similar volume of his. “DON’T FORGET THE METAMUCIL!”

He made sure to tell me that it was ok for him to talk on speaker phone because he’s from Scottsdale.

Oh! I’m so impressed! You’re from Scottsdale? Ok, so that means that you get to be a rude butthole in the grocery store? Can’t you talk on the phone WITHOUT IT BEING ON SPEAKER PHONE?! What is wrong with people?
</end rant>

Thank you for this therapy session.

What the heck? A supposedly mom-friendly baby brand gives its employees a whopping two weeks of maternity leave??!! I got six weeks in the 1980’s, for heaven’s sake.

My feet and legs are getting better, but still have a ways to go. Yay for PT. His suggestion of eliminating inflammatory foods two weeks ago definitely made a difference. No bread or gluten, no dairy to start with, lots of veggies. It may be a lot of woo-woo, but anything, even a placebo effect, is better than nothing. That it helps with weight loss is a bonus I can live with.

I just watched the interview with Ruby Bridges on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I recommend Googling the video and watching it. It’s a nice reminder of how far we’ve come as a country. It made me happy to see her doing so well. I came away with a hopeful feeling.

I really like Bradley Cooper - his movies, his Philly Pride, his protecting the privacy of his child, his charming ways . And even though it’s not my business and my opinion means nothing, I’m disappointed that at 49 years old he’s dating a 28 year old model - right after her and DiCaprio were “ hanging out”. It’s just become so predictable. Yeah, she’s mature, they have so much in common! She’s so interesting! Please.

I guess parental rights only count until they don’t jibe with your beliefs. Huh.

I feel like some of us on CC are one big dysfunctional family . We fight like cats and dogs, but support each other when the need arises.

Assignment posted on Blackboard: …Clearly mark which group member has provided leadership for which section of the project, e.g. use subtitles such as “[Concept 1], by Person 2.” …

Email from student: I am just reaching out to ask a question about our homework for [Class]. I noticed it says that you would like us to put "person #1) next to who does which section, do you still want us to do that? I am just wondering how you want it formatted.

Tough times—at this time last year 92 year old mom started the very fast spiral that led to her passing mid-February. Lots of memories of what we all went through a year ago. Fortunately over the last year there have been many thoughts of her that brought smiles instead of tears.

Took a suit to the cleaners and got it back dirtier than when I dropped it off! It’s covered in pet hair…and we don’t even have a pet!!! Plus, the suit jacket wasn’t even pressed well–you could still see the creases in the back and arm bends–and they completely ironed the absolute everything out of the pants! You could see every seam. It’s not even wearable. I’m so disgusted. If a business says they are a dry cleaners store, then they should know how to properly launder and press a suit! They said they’d redo it, but I don’t see how they can come back from this mess. I just don’t see how they can salvage the material of the pants. They are ruined. Ugh.

CC: I really appreciate the darker print on the titles.

Please let this be a nothing finding. Please.

I hate how much I worry. I really need to learn how to control it.

This is our third child going through the college application process and my husband is still a prestige whore! The application landscape is so different for D24 from S18 and DH cannot comprehend how daughter isn’t getting in EVERYWHERE and being offered $$$$$$
She is our highest stats kid but will probably end up at a state school just like her brothers before her. Which is great! But he is making daughter feel like she failed somehow and I want to strangle him. He has always had a low emotional IQ lol but this is ridiculous.
