The Monaco Grand Prix is always on Memorial Day weekend. It’s on early Sunday morning. My wife plays tennis, then has brunch every Sunday…so…I’ll be turning UP the volume. Next year I’ll be there in person if all goes well.
Believe it or not, many kids graduate, get jobs, find apartments. You might not realize it because their parents don’t post every single thing they do on Facebook.
In the last few days I have seen someone on a cellphone (multiple times) in a movie theater and the same in class at the yoga studio. Both people appeared to be at least in their 60’s.
It’s not just young people.
Patrick and Andy. Nice job!
You’re posting about Trump’s character after what you did? Makes me laugh out loud.
Yesterday Louisiana’s legislature passed its own “Don’t Say Gay” bill banning discussions of sexual orientation or gender identity in grades K-12 which extends to extracurricular, athletic and social activities, meaning no LGBTQ+ clubs and support groups. And they voted down an amendment that would allow the topic to be discussed with regard to anti-bullying efforts.
This is from the same legislative session where they recently passed the requirement to post the Ten Commandments in all classrooms (and apparently “In God We Trust” was required a couple of years ago, too).
I am so over a state that has so many problems that need to be addressed and yet spends so much time and attention enacting harmful bills.
I am sick and tired of some people’s interpretation of a religion where the two most important commands are to love God and love one another who then spend so much of their time hurting others.
I am just sick and tired of how some people are creating a hurtful mess so they can distract the public and continue to allow greater travesties to occur.
But then, I am thinking about returning to the classroom before I retire.
-
If I’m required to post, “In God We Trust” I’ll be adding some other things to the wall. In Allah We Trust, in Yahweh We Trust, in Buddha We Trust…
-
If I’m required to post the Ten Commandments, then the Universal Declaration of Human Rights will go up, too and perhaps the Ten Charges of Buddhism, the Laws of Manu of Hinduism, etc (source on other religions’ texts).
-
I will hang a banner saying, “Liberty and justice FOR ALL.”
-
And when kids need to select books for independent reading, I will give them lists of banned books and lists of books the state doesn’t like. And there will be rainbows all over my classroom.
Just because you make up numbers and call them a budget, and that budget shows you have extra money, doesn’t mean you can afford something. Looking at history and actual numbers is a better idea.
But it’s your life, and as long as you’re not asking me for money, you’re free to do whatever you’d like. (But its so hard to watch).
I’m sorry this is so difficult, friend. I wish she’d see your POV. But tread lightly, because your son is caught in the middle.
Listening to our son on a scanner app from 500+ miles away while on duty as a law enforcement officer is crazy.
If you think that the lack of an engagement ring was the reason your marriage failed, you’ve got more thinking to do. You agreed to marry him despite the fact that you didn’t get a ring, and you went through with the wedding without a ring. Oh, and … you’re pretty materialistic, aren’t you?
Come on just say yes or no. We need to move on.
Really, car dealerships.
I call you for a parts price and its $75 more than if I order it from the manufacturer and then pick it up at your parts department.
Please don’t ever say “I have friends who are gay” as an excuse for your pov. This isn’t about whether you like the sermons. It’s about how you like the gay people you know but still want to demonize all the others. Sure you can find a new church. Yes, we will assume you are opposed to human rights for gay brethern – you gotta own that. If that makes you feel bad, ask yourself – and your DH — why? Because this one thing isn’t the sum of your whole self? Gosh, I bet LGBTQ+ peeps would like a word.
A woman who had overheard me asking someone in the garden center about a plant approached me as I was leaving and told me she had lots of a different variety and told me I was welcome to them.
Two minutes later, another couple offered to help me put plants in my car as I was awkwardly balancing them as I made space for them.
I came home with a spring in my step and a lightness in my heart.
Becoming all philosophical these days. When I consider all that is happening, all that is being said, how some people see things, it takes me right into the age old question…what is the nature of man? Also makes me think of a whole lot more stuff but of a different nature.
Richard Sherman has died, part of the Sherman Brothers who wrote so many amazing songs for Disney movies…The Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, The Aristocats. If you’ve never been able to get “It’s a small world” out of your head, it’s because of him and his brother. He was 95.
He lived a really long life. Part of me always sort of thought he’d live forever. The “Feed The Birds” song from Mary Poppins always makes me cry. It was Walt Disney’s favorite Sherman Brothers song and he’d regularly ask them to come into his office just to play it for him one more time.
The world is a better place because of the Sherman Brothers. Feeling really sad about this but it’s ok. It’ll pass. D26 & I are going to Disneyland in a little over a week.
If you are bound and determined to bad mouth us, please stay truthful instead of making up crazy lies.
I have to go to a picnic/party today with my husband’s old high school gang. I hate parties, especially where I don’t know really know anyone. This gang is very closed and just all talk to each other and reminisce. The talk isn’t going to be about what people are doing now, it’s all going to be remembering the time someone did something and got in trouble. No one ever talks to me beyond initial greetings. He usually doesn’t ask me to come to these events but this time he is insisting. It will be fun, he says. I am dreading today.
