It’s a large apartment, so you can get off your duffs and move away from MIL, who can’t easily move, when the phone rings for her. It’s impossible for her to hear while you’re right next to her, chatting with the staff member about her vacation. But I know that you and your H are more important than your brother, who is just trying to say hi to your mom. Some things never change.

Pro tip for retailers:
Given that shoppers are still disproportionately women, you are missing HUGE profit potential at the register: We will NOT buy a whole bag of chocolate for $1-even good chocolate-because we will eat it all. BUT, there are MANY days where we would happily pay $3 for only one piece of chocolate from that same bag-because it’s that kind of day and we deserve it. Try it.

OMG you can’t just change the password on an important site we all use because you don’t remember it and some how your computer didn’t save it even though you have used it a million times, and then choose a random set of characters that you don’t remember now, and it’s your email that is needed to reset, and then tell me you’ll fix it tomorrow.
And you’re supposed to be the one that’s good at computers. Sigh.

My sister has been holding onto an entire kitchen’s worth of dishes, pots & pans, utensils, silverware, the whole 9 yards, for one of my kids to use when they need to get set up in their first apartment.
But instead, she’s going to donate it all to a refugee from Rwanda. She talked to a lady at her local dog park, who told her about this refugee who the lady’s church is helping. And the dog park lady said that the refugee has pretty much nothing.
Super proud of my sister. And I am insanely happy that all of that kitchenware is going to be used by somebody desperately in need. When my kids need kitchen stuff down the road, we’ll just get some cheap stuff from IKEA to get them both started and it’ll be fine.

Formula 1 is in Vegas this weekend and coverage is ridiculously late. Qualifying is at 1 a.m. tomorrow and the race is from 1 - 3 a.m. on Sunday. It’s easier to watch when it’s in Europe.

I’m in NYC and out of curiosity looked for Rikers Island on google maps, and learned there’s a school there. I scrolled the reviews and came across this.

I am in shock. My gregarious cousin, with the wife & two kids of whom he was so proud, committed suicide. When I heard he died, I figured it was a heart attack. I absolutely never would have guessed that he would have taken his own life.

Decided sharing Thanksgiving with my mom and brother is more meaningful and impactful than sharing with 18-20 of DH’s family. My heavenly dad is smiling and agrees.
(And my young adult sons and DH agree and support my decision. They will go to in-laws and give my regrets with that side of family.)
