Watching the latest reports from Aleppo with tears in my eyes. Such heartbreaking images of innocent victims.
It’s a weird mixture of pride and fear that my 21-year-old son is helping out in Syrian refugee camps just outside of Beirut. Thank goodness he communicates with me by Facebook almost every day! He’s handling everything so well.
Dearest son,
Your thesis project isn’t working. I know you’ve spent a year on it, and your friends are graduating now or this year, but please, face facts. Either shift to something else or,leave. Just too much pain.
Dearest son,
Your thesis project isn’t working, and is causing you so much pain and panic. Either find something new, and don’t worry that you will graduate later than your peers, or just leave without the PhD. I’ve never known anyone with more determination than you, but honestly, it’s a losing battle. I just wish I understood your field, so could offer suggestions.
If I’m being honest I hate the idea of you retiring H. Retirement to me is just not something to look forward to - it sounds like “the end”. Hate it. If I’m also being honest and selfish the thought of having to readjust to a new schedule where you’re home when I come home from work (after 35 years of marriage on different shifts) really upsets me - I need my alone time! (feeling guilty…but being honest…) I worry…
Add hit and run car issue on tip of all the other stuff you are dealing with (and forcing me to deal with too). Insurance rates up again, despite paying 5K or so out of pocket to prevent claims over last year or so. I know its not you’re fault, but I wish you were paying and not me.
No. Just no. I’m not going to do this for you … ALSO. You’re the one with the title, you’re the one with the extra salary, and it’s just not right that I keep ghosting these things for “the good of the department.”
Please let my behavior reflect these thoughts.
Argh… Dear MIL. Your son just had a 6 hour surgery, he does NOT need you to come “visit”. No, he is not dead, he is in recovery. I don’t even visit for more than one hour a day as it tires him out.
STOP MANTERRUPTING, dude.
Busy day deleting political comments from my facebook page
Does it really kill people to return emails, text messages, phone calls! Are you really that busy? Really!
56 years ago this Tuesday my little brother was born and I asked my parents to return him when they brought him home from the hospital. This morning I was the victim of a sewer blockage and had water running out of the powder room toilet and into coat closets, family room, etc. Who was there with his carpet cleaner in under an hour sucking up the nasty water, helping me move furniture, taking instructions from the plumber on the phone regarding getting the sewer cap off so no more water would back up into the house, and even cleaning my small entry run that had taken on a little water. For this and many other reasons, I’m so glad my parents didn’t listen to my request all those years back!
Why oh why did I open my big mouth and say I don’t understand the ineligible receiver rule. Now you’re going to be mansplaining it to me for the rest of the day. Sigh…
I’m a big Twitter person, but football season Twitter (as the fan of a not particularly successful team) coupled with election twitter is about to do me in!
I just got two invitations tonight, the best one is from D1 to go away with her for a mother/daughter weekend.
Please, please keep my thoughts from wandering to the “maybe’s” in my grandnephew’s future. I finally got to hold him today - his 3 brain surgeries by the time he was 6 days old meant I couldn’t hold the little guy until he was 9 weeks old. I knew he had a blood clot on his brain, and I knew he had some issues with one side. But my brother didn’t warn me that he would be so floppy. It scared the heck out of me.
A bird in hand or a ??? Wow. What a hard decision I will have to make.
I will not gloat… I will not gloat… I will not gloat… (on Facebook).
I said it and you did not disagree. So that is the new truth and please do not try and deny it.
If I read one more time, “should I file for FAFSA” question on this particular FB page…ughh!
